FuTopia 2026 Brings Contemporary Sounds and Swahili Heritage Together - The Citizen

The festival weekend opened with The Opening Pulse, a free beachside experience featuring DJ KCM, Zainooba and Midimu Collective, before continuing with a diverse programme of live performances, art installations, culinary experiences, workshops and community activities.FuTopia 2026 also celebrated the meeting of contemporary sounds and Zanzibar’s rich cultural heritage. I’m delighted to welcome you all to the 2nd Edition of FuTopia Festival - a celebration of creativity, culture and community, where portals to the future open and create encounters, experiences and memories that fuel our social, creative and artistic batteries and inspire us to do something meaningful and responsible with our time on this beautiful planet.Born into a city of opportunities, diversity and natural serenity, FuTopia’s first edition gave a glimpse into what can be created when we work on creating special moments, hand-in-hand, leaving space for everyone involved to breathe, create and shape what those moments - moments that shape our future – will entail.A busy beehive of people crafting, nourishing themselves, offering artisanal and handmade goods, playing, laughing and dancing together.Moments that linger long after they happen, moments that create meaning, belonging, community.
