Zanzibar came alive for FuTopia 2026, as the festival transformed Fumba Town into a vibrant meeting point for music, art, fashion and creative expression.
The festival weekend opened with The Opening Pulse, a free beachside experience featuring DJ KCM, Zainooba and Midimu Collective, before continuing with a diverse programme of live performances, art installations, culinary experiences, workshops and community activities.
FuTopia 2026 also celebrated the meeting of contemporary sounds and Zanzibar’s rich cultural heritage. International highlights included Grammy-nominated South African producer and DJ, DJ Lag, while the DCMA Taarab & Kidumbaki Ensemble brought the timeless sounds of Taarab and Kidumbaki to the festival stage.
By bringing electronic music, African dance sounds and traditional Swahili musical heritage together, FuTopia continues to create a unique space where culture, creativity and the future can meet.
